Natural Skin Care Products You Need To Know About
There’s no denying we’re in the midst of a tidal wave sized shift towards natural beauty. The industry has been turned on its head with modern Australian women (and men!) embracing natural skincare products with gusto. Along with the trend, we’ve seen many brands claim they too are all about organic skin care. As a brand who’s been producing all natural skincare since 1998, we want you, our audience, to be armed with all the information so you can make informed choices. Green branding and the words ‘Organic Skincare’ don’t necessarily mean the brand uses all natural products.
Today we want to chat through natural ingredients and how you can decipher hard to read labels. We want to give you the downlow on what you actually need for a top notch skincare regime (hint: it doesn’t have to be complicated!). And most importantly, we want to educate you on what organic actually means so you can purchase ethically.
Transparency is crucial in our industry so if you have any questions about our methods, we’re only too happy to answer your questions.
Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about natural skincare products.
What is the best natural ingredient for skin? Natural Ingredients That Will Up Your Skincare Game
Not all ingredients were created equal. In fact, many ingredients may sound appealing and have little impact on your skin health and appearance. The Botani difference lies in our formulation. Each and every one of our products have been naturopathically created to holistically treat your skin. The ingredients work in tandem to deliver – we don’t choose ingredients which will cancel each other out.
If you research our ingredients, you’ll notice each and every one of them is organic, vegan, plant-based and free of toxic chemicals. We say no to silicones, mineral oils, animal derived ingredients, synthetic fragrances, parabens, PEG’s, animal testing and GMO’s. We say YES to natural organic ingredients that nourish from the inside out.
Our favourite ingredients work double time to heal your skin from within and give you a natural, beautiful glow. The following ingredients are ones you really need to know about.
Olive Squalane mimick’s our own skin’s built in moisturiser. We are all born with squalene, newborns actually have the highest quality of it in their blood. As we age, the quality and quantity of squalene depletes. This is when we start to experience dry, ageing skin. To combat these common skin concerns, we must treat our skin. Olive Squalene is naturally anti aging and deeply hydrating. It helps promote the production of new cells which refreshes skin, naturally.
We use it in our Olive Skin Serum.
This powerhouse botanical ingredient comes from the marigold. It has many uses the most impressive being its ability to heal wounds and skin infections in record time. Calendula Extract is also an anti-inflammatory which can help with skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.
We use it in our Facial Scrub, Olive Hand & Body Cream, Olive Repair Cream, Boost Balancing Moisturiser, Spirulina Salt Scrub, Purify Facial Cleanser, Radiant Rose Mask, Healing Lip Balm and PhytoBody Wash.
Rose Geranium Oil
100% plant-based, our Rose Geranium Oil is sourced from nature. This ingredient balances skin tone, is an anti-inflammatory, heals acne and calms sensitive skin. The scent of rose has been shown to increase feelings of wellness.
We can’t get enough of it and use it in our Olive Hand & Body Cream and Radiant Rose Mask.
Of course, we use many ingredients in our products that are sourced in nature and backed by science. These three are our favourites due to their multi-functional uses.
What Is The Best Skin Care Regimen? The Best Skincare Regimen For Glowing Skin
Here’s an industry secret other companies don’t want you to know, skincare doesn’t have to be hard. You don’t need a million and one products to achieve healthy, glowing skin. In fact, what you don’t use is just as crucial as what you do use.
12 step skincare routines may sound wonderful however, too much of a good thing will irritate your skin and strip of it natural oils. Rather than complicating your routine, we suggest stripping it back so the products you are using have maximum impact.
Step #1: Cleanse
Choose an all-natural cleanser which will penetrate the pores to provide a deep, hydrating clean.
Our Purify Facial Cleanser is suitable for all skin types, especially for oily, combination, blemish and acne-prone skin. The lightly foaming formulation will gently clean skin and remove impurities, minimising irritation and dryness without stripping the skin of its vital oils.
Our Olive Soothing Cream Cleanser is suitable for all skin types including ultra-sensitive, scarred and damaged skin. The gentle creamy texture will remove makeup, clean skin and calm irritation all at once. Made using olive squalane for extra nourishment.
Step #2: Treat
Once you’ve effectively cleansed your skin, it’s time to treat any skin concerns you have. Rather than going nuts and stocking up on every serum, oil and treatment under the sun, choose key products aligned with your needs.
Fine Lines & Dark Circles Under The Eye – Rescue Eye Treatment
After cleansing, using ring finger, place 4-5 drops on the orbital bone just below & above the eye, starting at the outer corner of the eye and dab inwards. Our rescue eye treatment will improve tightness in the eye area, revitalise and soothe tired eyes while reducing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles.
Acne: Rescue Acne Cream
If you suffer from acne, applying our all natural, organic acne cream morning and night has been shown to kill the bacteria that causes acne in just 30 minutes, 99.9% of the time!
Step #3: Hydrate
Dehydrated skin lacks vitality and can lead to premature aging. Luckily, you can combat this with drinking lots of water and choosing a deeply nourishing moisturizer/serum.
Olive Skin Serum
Our Olive Skin Serum is sourced from the humble olive and is clinically proven to increase and seal moisture levels in the skin within 24 Hours. If you’re looking for natural, turbo-charged skincare, this serum is for you. ⠀
Olive Repair Cream

With a high concentration of Olive Squalene – Botáni’s signature intelligent ingredient, this highly penetrative and versatile cream can be used day and night offering multi-purpose benefits for optimal skin health.
Boost Balancing Moisteriser

It’s that simple! Don’t forget a twice-weekly hydrating mask to amplify your skin’s wow factor. What Does Organic Skincare Mean? What Does Organic Skincare Actually Mean?
What Does Organic Skincare Mean? What Does Organic Skincare Actually Mean?
What’s organic? What’s natural? Truth be told, there’s a whole lot of information out there that’s not correct so today, we’re going to break it down for you.
In order for an Australian Beauty Brand to receive organic certification, they need to prove each product is actually organic. All ingredients must be certified and strict regulations must be met.
In Australia, almost anyone can start a skincare brand. Before you purchase, please keep the following in mind:
- In Australia, you don’t need a licence to manufacture cosmetics.
- There is no mandatory accreditation for manufacturing goods.
- Your products don’t need to be submitted for assessment or safety testing prior to selling them.
- There are limited restrictions on toxic chemicals, safe chemicals and labelling in Australia.
As a result? There are many beauty brands out there claiming they are organic without certification. It’s up to you, the consumer to do your research and ensure the brand you’re purchasing from has relevant certification to back up their claims.
